Then Túrin spoke to Finduilas, and said: ‘Do not let the words of Gwindor affright you. He has suffered in the darkness of Angband; and it is hard for one so valiant to be thus crippled and backward perforce. He needs all solace, and a longer time for healing.’
‘I know it well,’ she said.
‘But we will win that time for him!’ said Túrin. ‘Nargothrond shall stand! Never again will Morgoth the Craven come forth from Angband, and all his reliance must be on his servants; thus says Melian of Doriath. They are the fingers of his hands; and we will smite them, and cut them off, till he draws back his claws. Nargothrond shall stand!’
the Children of Húrin
croclock said: Turin offers to help Maeglin and ends up killing him by accident, earning himself an exile from gondolin but in return it survives for another million years :) AWWW gwindor and tuor being friends!! AWWW!!!! :’)
Remember that Húrin when released immediately goes to Gondolin and bangs on the door, shouting to be let it. So have Morgoth still release Húrin and have that happen- but only because he looses sight of Túrin, I don’t know, through the veiling power of Gondolin (seriously- how was Morgoth making Húrin watch? All-access Beleriand cable? And if so, why was Morgoth so blind to some enemy movements? The power breaking is too much there).
So Húrin arrives, and no way Túrin is letting Turgon stall on letting his dad into the city. Which brings the armies of Morgoth to Gondolin’s position, thereby fulfilling Túrin’s mandate as home-wrecker in a more literal sense.
On the flip side, Tuor totally gets Orodreth to listen to Ulmo’s messengers (Arminas and Gelmir, yes?) thus saving all of Nargothrond.
No but, wait
If i remember it correctly, the eagles spy Hurin and ask Turgon wether they should bring him into the city or not, and Turgon says: no way!
But then he thinks twice and changes his mind and tells the eagles to bring him, but by this time the eagles have lost sight of him. After wandering around the area of gondolin, Húrin gets desperate and yells at Turgon asking if he will be forsaken - THAT’S when Morgoth gets to know the general location of Gondolin and put the spies which later find and capture Maeglin when he strays too far
So basically if Turgon had fetched Húrin at once, Húrin wouldn’t have shouted like that and given away Gondolin’s location!
Moreover, it seems to be a decision Turgon makes in his heart very quickly, and very quickly changes his mind.. I mean, it seems very private, so even if Túrin was there, he wouldn’t have been able to change Turgon’s mind in the time it mattered?
Good question about Melkor-cable being faulty tho. Gondolin is like a BIG SPOT in the middle of a dark sea and there’s no Girdle or hit to protect them - how indeed, melkor? omg dude
Does anybody know if there are CDs of the Cantigas de Santa Maria available?
eduardo paniagua and gregorio paniagua both have directed a number of cds dedicated exclusively to the cantigas :) you can also find many versions on youtube, and scattered in other cds dedicated to early music.. I wish I had more names to recomend, sorry, and good luck! The Cantigas are all very beautiful.
CSM 353- Quen a omagen da Virgen… Instrumental (Danza 2 de la conquista de Almería)
Not to be a bigger nerd than I already am but - doesn’t this sound a lot like Blackmore’s Night’s Fires at Midnight? Wouldn’t be the first time that band used Early Music as a base for their own songs, so maybe…?
